Donna Ritter Kim, BA, JD

Ms. Kim brings her organizational skill and attention to detail to her position as Office Administrator and Manager. She has been with the Center for Hand Surgery since 2005. She is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and the Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University.

Michelle R. Ritter, M.D.

Dr. Ritter is board certified in orthopaedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons (ABOS) and has earned the Certificate of Added Qualification in Surgery of the Hand, (CAQ). After graduating from Bowman Gray Medical School, now known as the Wake Forest School of Medicine, she completed her orthopaedic residency at LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport. She returned to Wake Forest for her fellowship in hand surgery, where she trained with internationally recognized hand surgeons.

She has been practicing in Shreveport since 1999. Dr. Ritter is the most experienced wrist arthroscopist in this area, treating patients from all over the tri-state. She works closely with hand therapists, who are crucial contributors to hand function and recovery, and can often help patients avoid surgery completely.

Dr. Ritter is one of the few physicians in Shreveport who has been trained, and has successfully treated contractures of the fingers (Dupuytren’s) with a non-surgical alternative. SB Magazine has repeatedly named Dr. Ritter in the ‘Top Hand Surgeon’ category as chosen by her peers in the medical community.

During medical school, Dr. Ritter underwent hand surgery to repair a nerve injury. That experience compelled her to pursue a career as a hand surgeon. As a former patient herself, she understands her patients’ needs and concerns.

“There is great satisfaction in seeing someone regain function they didn’t think possible, and improving one’s quality of life. It is important that patients participate in decision-making and understand their role in recovery. We can then work together to achieve their goals.” – Michelle Ritter, MD
